Welcome home, Friday
The Day Friday Came Home
I adopted Friday from the Richmond SPCA.
When I first met her at the shelter, she was very shy and stayed tucked away in the corner. The first time I met Friday at Richmond SPCA.
Friday also had a sister named Sara. Friday’s sister, Sara.
A friend came to the shelter with me that day, and somehow we ended up leaving with one kitten each: my friend adopted Sara, and I adopted Friday.

Coming home
Friday was not particularly convinced that coming home with me had been a good idea. As soon as we got home, she found a spot behind a cabinet and refused to come out.

She stayed there for hours. By that evening, I finally managed to negotiate a temporary peace treaty with a tube of Churu. Apparently, Churu was enough to make me slightly less suspicious. For the first time, she started approaching me on her own and rubbing her face against my hand.

Not long after that, she finally came out from behind the cabinet and went to get some food.

And once she had eaten and decided that the room probably wasn’t going to kill her, her personality started to show. She began playing with her toys (including the little plush toy that Partisia gave out at TCC 2025. Thanks, Partisia).

A few hours earlier, she had been too scared to leave the corner of her shelter enclosure. Now she was running around my room fast enough to turn into a blur.

And after a very eventful first evening—hiding, eating, playing, and several rounds of zoomies, she eventually climbed onto my bed and fell asleep next to my pillow. Not a bad first day.

Meanwhile, Sara…
Sara is doing very well too. She now lives with my friend and has already made a new friend.
